If you fly regularly, or even occasionally, then you know that air travel has gotten more expensive in recent years. Besides the price of tickets, there are now a host of additional fees and charges from baggage to meals (or even snacks), to printing your ticket. So, in a difficult economy, what are the best ways to get a good price on airfare?

First, when you are planning a vacation, start looking for tickets several months ahead of time. Compare prices at the online booking website such as Hotwire, Travelocity, and Expedia. Don’t forget airline-specific websites such as Southwest since these will sometimes offer unadvertised specials that aren’t available with other booking websites. If you have a booking website that you typically use to find airfare bargains, then consider signing up for an alert service with that website. Alert services work by recording your preferences for flight times, destinations, and prices, then e-mailing you if a deal appears that matches your criteria. These notification services can be a great way to get a good deal on airfare without having to manually check prices every few days.

If you have a general idea of when you would like to travel, you will get the best price by being flexible about your travel times and dates. Traveling on the weekends is often the most expensive, but purchasing tickets on Tuesdays or Wednesday will often get a deep discount on the price. This may not be possible in all situations, but if you have some leeway with your vacation time you should consider flying in the middle of the week instead of on a Friday or Saturday. You will also save money by being flexible with your travel times. Flights that leave very early in the morning or late at night are often less expensive than flights during the middle of the day. This may be inconvenient or even impossible if you are traveling with small children, but reconsidering the time of day that you fly can definitely shave a few dollars off of the cost of a plane ticket.

Thirdly, if you fly often you should consider signing up for a frequent flyer program. Many credit cards offer these programs, as do various airlines. Although the terms and fees vary widely by program, most allow you to cash in points for discounts on airline tickets or upgrades. These may not be worth the hassle if you only fly once or twice each year, but if you are a frequent flyer you might find that you get your money’s worth out of these programs.

Lastly, do everything that you can to minimize your costs and fees. Many airlines now charge a baggage fee for each bag that you bring on the plane. If this is the case, pack as lightly as possible or don’t check bags at all. Food costs have gone up, so bring your own food or drinks on the plane. Bring a book or portable DVD player rather than being tempted to pay for headphones so that you can plug in to the in-flight movie. All of these tips will help you to get a bargain price the next time you fly.

Book your airfare in advance

You will get a better airfare if you book in advance. Airlines need to plan in advance how much space they need for baggage, the amount of food and drink they will need and other such considerations. Booking ahead means the airline has sufficient time to plan their costs in advance. Also, people who book their flights last minute are generally business customers who can afford the higher fares that personal customers can’t.

If you know you will be travelling somewhere on a certain date, or you are planning a vacation or other trip you should book as soon as possible. You should aim to book at least a month in advance or longer if you want to increase your chances of getting a better deal. It varies from airline to airline but you can generally book flights as far in advance as ten months. If you are able to plan your travel this far ahead, or even a few months, you can save yourself some money.

Consider using alternative airports or routes

You will increase your chances of finding a cheaper fare if you consider using alternative airports or routes. Most major cities have more than one airport. When searching for airfares, include all possible alternative airports and routes.

Using an alternative airport can save you money however there is one thing in particular that you need to consider before doing so. When looking at alternative airports you need to take into account the cost, as well as the time, to travel there. It could be that the cost of travelling to a further airport outweighs the savings on your ticket. When booking your ticket, look at all possible routes in order to get the best deal you can.

Where to book tickets online

It is generally cheaper to book your ticket online, but then you have to decide which website you will book through. There are of course the airlines websites. There are also many third party websites you can book through such as Expedia, Travelocity and Priceline. You can get some good deals through third party websites. However make sure you compare these prices with the airline’s website direct. You might find that the airline’s site comes out cheaper than booking through a third party site.

These tips are just some that can help you save money on your airfares. So take them into consideration if you’re about to book an airline ticket or go travelling in the future.

It has some rainy months that bless beaches with magnificent coconut palms, lagoons and enormous sand dunes. During the remaining portion of the year, the sky shines in an enviable blue and its inhabitants smile with the satisfaction of who know to be owner of a small paradise. The origin of this old fishing village was in 1650. Located in the city of Aracati. It changed into a tourist spot in the seventies, by a group of hippies that got passionate for the paradisiacal beauty and the hospitality of the natives who inhabited the village.
When you are traveling, either locally or overseas, there may be a few changes from your ordinary daily activities. Obviously if you are on holiday, the physical activities may change completely – you may either be doing a lot less than usual, i.e. resting and lazing on the beach reading a book, or you may be doing more physical activities than usual – jungle trekking, mountain-climbing and so on. The meal times and type of meals may change too. If you travel overseas, there may even be a change in the time zone, affecting the timing of medication intake. The following tips can be used to help manage your diabetes better during your traveling:

1. Have a letter from your doctor to certify that you have diabetes and list down the medication you are taking. This is especially important when you are traveling to a foreign country. You should always carry a small identity card stating your name, the medication you are taking and contact number for emergency or the address of your hotel – this should be kept in your pocket or wallet, in case you develop hypoglycaemic symptoms.

2. Ensure that you carry at least one week’s extra medication. This is to allow for unforeseen flight delays, tablets lost, etc.

3. Always carry your medication in your hand luggage. If someone else is traveling with you, a portion of the medication can be kept with your travel companion, in case your bag gets lost or stolen.

4. Do not put your insulin or medication in the big luggage if you are traveling on the plane. This is because the temperature in the baggage area of the plane may not be the same as the rest of the airplane. If you are traveling by car, keep the medication with you in the car, not in the car boot. Do not leave the medication, insulin included, in the glove compartment or in the car when the car is parked, especially under the hot sun!

5. Inform the hotel or the flight carrier that you have diabetes, so that proper meal arrangements can be made in advance.

6. Always carry with you your glucometer and monitor your glucose regularly.

7. Always keep with you the local area’s emergency number or hospital/clinic contact number, in case of any emergencies.

If your diabetes is stable, there should not be any problem traveling alone.

It doesn?t matter if you are planning group travel for a reunion, wedding, corporate event or retreat, if you know how to plan and where to look, it is easy to find ways to save money. If you follow these tips, you will be on your way to saving money for your travel group.

It is important to look for group airfare. This is especially helpful if most of the members of your group are traveling from the same location. Many airlines offer discounts for groups and may include bonuses for your group if you are traveling together. Some of the advantages to booking your flight as a group include;Discounted ticketsFree airfareReserved seatingPackage optionsCall the airlines you are considering to find out what they consider to be a group. Most airlines will consider a group to be 10 or more but it varies for each one. Just be sure that you understand their policies before you make any reservations.

You may come across sites online that will assist you with making group travel plans. These will help you find the best rates for booking your hotel as a group. You may also find sites that will help you book flights, tours and reservations to restaurants and other activities.

Sometimes hotels and airlines will offer bonuses when you book rooms or seats with them. You may get things like room upgrades or per-reserved seating depending on which hotel or airline you book with. This will save you money because you will be getting the upgrades as an add-on to your already discounted price.

Once you have chosen a hotel, airline or have done any other booking of reservations that you need to do, it is okay to negotiate for different things that you may need. For instance, you may need a shuttle to pick you up at the airport. Often times, the hotel will include that in your final price as a bonus to booking as a group. Everything can be up for negotiation. After all, the worst they can say is ?no? and then you know it?s time to look at other companies.

Rather than spend money on theme parks or water resorts, consider hanging out by the pool at the hotel. Take a cooler with snacks and drinks and spend the day in the sun. If the hotel has an indoor swimming pool you will also have the option of swimming if the weather turns ugly while you are on your trip. There are several different ways to save money when you are making reservations for hotel rooms or booking flights. When you know what to look for, who to speak to and what questions to ask, you will be well on your way to saving big on your group travel plans.

Eat in small diners and other spots that are local favorites. Often the menu has more options and the prices are more reasonable. Ask around to find the best places to eat. The atmosphere is often more relaxed and there is always good conversation. If you eat at a chain restaurant or fast food joint you will more than likely spend more for your meal.Traveling does not always have to be expensive. There are plenty of ways to organize group travel that is affordable.

Valencia is the ideal place for a quick break. It’s small size makes it easy to get from one location to another throughout the city and there is a great mix of traditional and modern, as well as a metropolitan city environment and a stunning coastline. So whether you’re looking to put your feet up and relax for a few days or jam as much activity as you can into your weekend, Valencia is the place for you.

Located in the heart of the city, La Plaza de Toros is a great place to get a look at Valencia’s history. Not only this, but on weekends the breathtaking structure becomes a market for local produce, so it’s also a great place to find some bargains. Furthermore, the streets that surround La Plaza de Toros are home to some of Valencia’s best restaurants and bars.

While in Valencia, any visitor must be sure to sample Paella Valenciana, a local variation on one of Spain’s famous national dishes. Try out the small restaurants dotted around the Plaza del Ayuntamiento for an authentic paella or hit the restaurants on the coast for some of the city’s best seafood restaurants.

To relax and unwind, there is no better place to go than the city’s meandering gardens. The 5.5 mile long Jardins del Turia run right through the city and boast beautiful walkways, parks, playgrounds and fountains. This is a great place for a family picnic.

The City of Art and Sciences is where you’ll find some of Valencia’s more contemporary architecture. With museums, cafes, restaurants, bars and even a nightclub, this is a great place to spend a day if you’re only in Valencia for a short time.

If an ideal weekend getaway involves retail therapy and a credit card, then Valencia has a lot to offer. There are shopping malls located all over the city which boast some of Europe’s biggest brand names and smaller boutiques and markets in the centre of the city where you can find local cuisine and some fashion bargains!
